The mid-year writing trap I didn’t know I was in
3 ways I found my writing rhythm again, without burning it all down.
Hey friend 👋🏽
First, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who tuned into our live on Friday “How to Add More of You Into Your Content.”
The chat, the stories, the questions? Whew. 🔥
If you’ve ever struggled with feeling too “robotic” in your writing or unsure how to let your personality through, that replay is worth every minute. (Link below if you missed it.)
But let’s talk about something that’s been sitting with me:
It’s mid-year.
You’re still writing.
Still posting.
Still trying.
But… do you even feel connected to your words anymore?
'Cause I’ve been there. And it’s quietly frustrating.
Especially if you’re someone who started writing from a deeply personal place.
You used to have something to say.
Now it just feels like you’re trying to say it “the right way.”
Here’s the truth most creators won’t admit:
You can get better at writing and still feel less like yourself.
Growth is not always alignment.
So, what do you do when your writing no longer sounds like you?
Here are 3 ways I’ve learned to reconnect:
1. Pause your “helpful” content. Write your honest one instead.
The tips can wait.
Try telling your audience what’s actually been hard for you this week.
Or what you’ve been thinking about but haven’t posted yet.
📌 Example:
Instead of:
“3 Ways to Write More Persuasively”
Try:
“What I write when I feel like nothing’s working.”
Your people want your truth, not just your tactics.
2. Audit the “voice” you’re writing in.
Seriously. Ask yourself:
→ Am I trying to sound smart? Professional? Like someone else I follow?
If your words are draining you, it’s probably not your real voice talking.
Try this:
Take a paragraph of your writing and re-write it how you’d text your best friend.
The version that flows is the one that’s yours.
3. Revisit why you started sharing in the first place.
Not to go viral.
Not to be perfect.
But probably because you had something to say.
When writing feels dry, come back to that core message the one that made you want to hit “post” in the first place.
Because at the end of the day:
Your best writing won’t come from the algorithm.
It’ll come from alignment.
This week, ask yourself:
What would I say if I wasn’t worried about sounding “right”?
Where have I started mimicking instead of connecting?
What stories do I want to tell even if they aren’t perfect?
Because your audience doesn’t need perfection.
They need you.
